Giving a speech at any event is always a mixed blessing, it is nice to be asked, but also stressful on the day.
Remember, if there are family present it is probably a good idea to stay away from sexual perversions (especially if you haven’t had your 21st yet!)

Before Writing Your Speech:
- Consider your audience
- Find out how long you are going to talk for
- Try and write as you would speak
- Start with a attention grabbing remark to get everyones attention
- Be humorous (funny haha, not funny sad)
- Involve your audience

Preparing Your Speech:
- Type it up on your computer
- Practice it infront of a mirror
- Print it up in large font, remember that lots of venues are quite dark.

Just Before Your Speech
- Don’t get too drunk
- Go to the toilet
- Have a glass of water at hand

While Giving your speech
- Act confidently
- Make eye contact
- Use hand gestures
- Project your voice (speak from your diaphram, not your mouth)
- Smile
